Ten Rubrics for Teaching Writing Rubrics can be useful in crafting assignments and in discussing and assessing student work. The writing rubrics below were collaboratively produced by Middlebury College faculty as a result of a Teagle -funded project on college writing (project directors were Kathy Skubikowski and Adela Langrock).An essay rubric is a way teachers assess students' essay writing by using specific criteria to grade assignments. Essay rubrics save teachers time because all of the criteria are listed and organized into one convenient paper. If used effectively, rubrics can help improve students' writing.A persuasive essay rubric will analyse the general voice of the work and decide whether your claim is convincing enough. At the same time, an argumentative essay rubric is expected to evaluate the quality of the argumentation and the way the author integrates facts into the text.
